Optimism in Business Community

The appointment of an Economic Development Manager for Bourke was just another indication of the growth possibilities across the shire, according to General Manager Mark Riley.

The continuing lockdown in Sydney, lengthy travel bans, and beautiful weather were all to Bourke’s benefit, he said, with next year’s tourism season looking promising.

But the opportunities were not just in tourism – there were signs of confidence across other sectors of the business community.

“There are great opportunities here, especially in tourism, and we plan to get that message out,” Mr Riley said.

“We have worked with our Joint Organisation partners in the Cobar and Walgett Shires to take advantage of travellers that one day will be allowed out of Sydney and who we hope will head to our region.

“It will be some time before the rank and file can go overseas, so we are in a position to be active in the marketplace and readying ourselves for February or March next year.
