Old Boys clash keeps rugby tradition alive

The annual Old Boys clash in Bourke was a major highlight of the Back O’Bourke Easter Festival on Saturday, bringing together former local rugby players in a feature match built on tradition, community, and a love of the game.

It was also an opportunity to honour longtime supporter Les Walsh who passed away last year. Les’ children Stephen and Susan Walsh both attended the match and Stephen pulled on the jumper and played for the Old Boys.

Every Easter, former Bourke Rams players return to take on the current Brewarrina-Bourke Barbarians side, creating a contest that is as much about connection as it is competition. […]
