Nurse Opal graduates to fulltime employment
Opal Trumper from Lightning Ridge is one of the latest nursing students to graduate from the Diploma of Nursing at Dubbo TAFE, and she has already found a job as an enrolled nurse.
21-year-old Ms Trumper is among nine TAFE NSW graduates who are helping to fill the demand for skilled nurses in the Central West and Orana regions.
According to recent Federal Department of Health and Aged Care reports, Australia is expected to face a nursing shortage of around 70,000 by 2035, so it’s fantastic to see local people taking on the profession.
As part of their training, the graduating students, now all qualified Enrolled Nurses took clinical placement within their local health districts, including Lightning Ridge.
All nine students have secured employment in various health services, including hospitals and aged care facilities, with two of the graduates choosing to explore further education through a Bachelor of Nursing. […]
