NSW Governor to visit Cobar, Bourke and Brewarrina

Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, will be visiting Cobar, Bourke, and Brewarrina from next Wednesday 14 October to Saturday 17 October 2026.
The Governor said that she was looking forward to travelling out west to catch up with locals, learn about progress on important initiatives connecting and empowering communities, and experience the culture, pride, and natural beauty that makes this incredible part of our State so special.
In Cobar, the Governor will meet representatives from the Cobar Shire Council to learn about local programs and aspirations, tour the Harmony CSA Copper Mine, and attend a Cobar District Concert Band Community Concert.
She will also visit the spectacular Cobar Sound Chapel and meet students and staff at Cobar High School, where she will tour classrooms and view a Taiko drum performance.
In Bourke, the Governor will meet representatives from Maranguka Community Hub, Bourke Tribal Council, and Bourke District Children’s Services to learn about community connection programs, meet Magistrates Early Referral into Treatment (MERIT) stakeholders, and participate in a ceremony welcoming babies to the Bourke community.
She will also join a cultural tour and rock art visit in Gundabooka National Park, tour the Back O’Bourke Exhibition Centre to see displays and the Standing Stories sculptures, and attend a community reception where she will thank local community leaders and volunteers.
In Brewarrina, the Governor will hear from Brewarrina Shire Council representatives about local projects and initiatives, learn about community programs running at, and planned for, Yetta Dhinnakkal, and visit MacKillop Family Services to join in on a Brewarrina Family Strengthening Services Women’s Group and Yarn.
