New year, new faces at the Australian Opal Centre

The Australian Opal Centre has entered 2026 with a newly elected board, following its Annual General Meeting held last November.

Members of Australian Opal Centre Ltd have elected a new group of directors, led by Chair David Lane OAM, marking a new chapter for the nationally significant cultural project.

The Centre thanked outgoing directors for their service and contribution, acknowledging the work already achieved in establishing the organisation and progressing plans for the Australian Opal Centre building.

In a statement, the new board said directors were meeting frequently and bringing strong focus and energy to their roles, while recognising both the enormous community effort behind the Centre and the challenges involved in delivering a major cultural and capital project in a complex operating environment.

As a volunteer board, directors said they were fully committed to the Centre, its members, supporters, funding partners and the broader community, with a strong emphasis on ensuring the organisation’s long-term success.

Among the board’s immediate priorities is preparing clear, accurate and transparent reporting on the Centre’s financial position, covering both day-to-day operations and the Australian Opal Centre building project. […]
