New voice wants to tell farmers’ story loud and clear

There is a new and passionate voice leading the powerful NSW Farmers organisation.

Moree farmer Rebecca Reardon is the newly elected President of NSW Farmers, and she brings a wealth of experience not only on the land but in business and advocacy to the role.

Rebecca is actively involved, with her husband Dan, in a mixed grain and livestock business, and brings extensive commercial sector experience to the role.

She has over 20 years in leadership roles for agribusiness companies, specialising in supply chain management and international and domestic commodity marketing in grains and fertilisers. Rebecca has been NSW Farmers vice president for the past four years and is also deeply involved in the Moree community where she and husband Dan have raised their 3 children.

Rebecca told 2WEB that she took on the role to help make greater opportunities for the next generation of farmers.

“Farmers have so many challenges being thrown at them, green and red tape, our profit-ability is down, rising costs, erosion of basic rights, land being taken out of farming – it’s tough out there,” she said.

“I’m keen to try and make a better lot for farmers. I come from a farming background, I married to a farmer, still am a farmer, and I relish that opportunity to get out there and represent the community of farming.” […]
