New plan targets everyday barriers across Shire

Safer footpaths, better access to essential services, and more inclusive public spaces are among the priorities identified in a new plan aimed at making everyday life easier for people living with disability across the Brewarrina Shire.

Brewarrina Shire Council last week adopted its Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) 2025–2029, providing a practical roadmap to improve accessibility and embed inclusion into everything from infrastructure and communication to employment and community engagement.

Mayor Tom Stanton said the plan reflected the unique challenges of living in a remote area.

“This Plan has been shaped by the voices of our community. The community told us what matters most: safer and more accessible footpaths, well maintained public spaces, better access to services, and practical support that makes everyday life easier. This Plan responds directly to that message,” Cr Stanton said. […]
