New Lands Council leadership in NSW

The newly elected NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) has been announced after an election in February. The council includes two new councillors – Ray Kelly from Sydney/Newcastle and Diane Randall from the North Coast, and a record four female councillors.

The NSW Electoral Commission announced that incumbents were returned for North Western, Northern, Mid North Coast, Wiradjuri, Western and South Coast Regions. In the Central Region, Grace Toomey was elected unopposed.

Councillors include Grace Toomey (Central), Peter Smith (Mid North Coast), Diane Randal (North Coast), Anne Dennis (North-Western), Charles Lynch (Northern), Ray Kelly (Sydney/Newcastle), Danny Chapman (South Coast), Ross Hampton (Western) and Leeanne Hampton (Wiradjuri).

NSWALC CEO Yuseph Deen said the new Council will be responsible for allocation of the Council’s resources and making decisions on a range of important issues affecting Aboriginal people in New South Wales. […]
