New Bourke health clinic to transform healthcare

A long-awaited new home for Bourke Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (BACHS) is a step closer, with Barpa Construction Services appointed to build a new integrated primary healthcare clinic in Bourke.

The new facility will be built on the corner of Tarcoon and Mitchell streets, opposite Bourke High School, replacing the current Oxley Street clinic.

“Our current building is not really fit for purpose any longer,” Chief Executive Officer Jay Forrester said.

“Back in 2021, management received an infrastructure grant to enable BACHS to start planning to build a new clinic and find suitable land. Getting this construction off the ground has now come to fruition.”

Mr Forrester said the new purpose-built facility would allow BACHS to expand the range of health services available to the community. […]
