Neville Simpson Sportsground officially opened

A large crowd gathered at North Bourke on Saturday, for the official opening of the Neville Simpson Sportsground.
This newly renamed community space honours the life and service of one of Bourke’s most respected residents, Mr Neville Simpson.
As MC for the event, Leonie Brown, General Manager of Bourke Shire Council, welcomed attendees to the launch and acknowledged the significant turnout.
“I would like to warmly welcome each and every one of you to today’s naming launch of the Neville Simpson Sportsground, here at North Bourke,” Mrs Brown said.
Special mention was given to Mr Simpson’s wife, Mrs Pam Simpson, and her family, as well as guests who travelled from as far afield as Queensland, Sydney, Orange, and Dubbo.
“That people would travel so far and to see the number in attendance today says a lot about the late Neville Simpson and his contribution to the Bourke community,” Mrs Brown said.
“The naming of facilities can often be a somewhat contentious matter, but it is fair to say that the community, the Council and the NSW Government got this naming proposal correct.”
