Nation pauses to honour Police Remembrance Day

A moving ceremony was held outside the Central North Police District headquarters in Bourke to commemorate National Police Remembrance Day on September 29. The service was attended by current serving police officers, members of emergency services, Bourke Council General Manager Leonie Brown and members of the public. Police Remembrance ceremonies were held not only in Bourke but also in Walgett and other remote commands in the Outback, and in stations in cities and towns across the nation.

A service was held at the NSW Police Force Wall of Remembrance in The Domain, to honour the 284 officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, with NSW Governor Margaret Beazley, New South Wales Premier Chris Minns, Minister for Police and Counter-terrorism Yasmin Catley and NSW Acting NSW Police Commissioner Peter Thurtell attending.
