Minister impressed by Brewarrina’s vision and progress

Last week, NSW Minister for Local Government Ron Hoenig visited Brewarrina as part of a broader tour of western NSW, accompanied by Member for Barwon Roy Butler.

During their time in Brewarrina, the pair met with Brewarrina Shire Council to discuss key developments in the community, and Mr Hoenig was impressed with the region and its cultural importance.

Brewarrina is an important part of Mr Butler’s “patch,” and he was keen to point out the highlights.

“The town of Brewarrina is famous for its fish traps, which are tens of thousands of years old, but it also has a council that’s doing some fantastic things for the community,” Mr Butler said.

“Among the projects they are working on are a $6 million main street upgrade, a $6 million key worker housing project, and a number of important road improvements.”

The visit, which included a formal meeting with council staff and a warm welcome from Mayor of Brewarrina Shire Tommy Stanton, served as an opportunity for Minister Hoenig to hear directly from local leaders. […]
