Mayors returned across the outback

Leadership has remained unchanged across Bourke, Brewarrina and Walgett shires, with all three councils holding mayoral elections during the last week.

Tommy Stanton has been re-elected Mayor of Brewarrina Shire, Lachlan Ford returned as Mayor of Bourke Shire and Jasen Ramien was re-elected Mayor of Walgett Shire.

In Brewarrina, Councillor Vivian Slack-Smith was also re-elected Deputy Mayor, continuing the leadership partnership for the remainder of the current council term.

Now in his 12th year on Brewarrina Shire Council, Cr Stanton said he was honoured to again be entrusted with leading the shire.

“I am deeply honoured and grateful for the continued trust placed in me by my fellow Councillors and our community,” Cr Stanton said.

“Over the past decade, I’ve been incredibly proud of Brewarrina’s resilience, growth, and determination. Being re-elected is a privilege, and I look forward to building on the strong foundations we’ve laid together. […]
