Louth Races 2025 – a legendary Outback event returns August 9th

The countdown is on for one of Australia’s most iconic outback events - the Louth Races.
First run in 1888, the historic Louth race meet is one of the most popular country races on the calendar with a seven race program held on Saturday, August 9th. Prize money this year is $100,000 and trainers, jockeys and horses make the trek west every year to compete for the win and the prestige.
The historic race meeting on the banks of the Darling River continues to draw thousands to the tiny village of Louth, celebrating its heritage with a uniquely Australian blend of sport, community, and country hospitality.
The races began 137 years ago with a two-day event and ten races total, and while much has changed, the spirit remains the same.
