Recent news around Bourke has been negative, but real estate sales and rental availability in the town tell a different story.

According to local real estate agent, Sharon Dickson, there are several factors contributing to the local market going great guns.

Sharon, from Schute Bell Whitbread & Co, said that lockdowns are a factor.

“Lockdowns created an environment where people are looking to buy property and are getting pushed further out and discovering our little towns again, nothing we didn’t already know,” she said.

“Investment in Bourke is rising with people upgrading or downsizing, causing a steady movement in the market.

“Recently we had Expressions of Interest (EOI) on eight vacant blocks of land, closing on 14 February, and one sold outright, the same person is negotiating on another three and the remainder have been listed for private sale.

“There are still a few bargains available,” Sharon said.
