Local ICPA groups gear up for key state conference

As schools return for the year, local members of the Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association (ICPA) are turning their attention to one of the most important events on their calendar – the annual state conference on 24th and 25th March.

Britt Anderson, who lives at Walgett and serves as the NSW ICPA publicity officer, said branches across the state are currently finalising motions ahead of next month’s conference, which will be hosted by the Broken Hill branch.

“It’s all things conference now. All the different branches are getting their motions in on what they’d like us to advocate for on behalf of them, so we’re heads down, bums up in the conference space right now.”

All motions were due earlier this month, with supplementary motions to follow. At conference, each motion is presented, explained and debated before members vote on whether it should become state policy.

“Every single motion that comes in is read out on the floor and voted upon by the entire member delegation in the room,” Ms Anderson said. […]
