Young people in Bourke, Brewarrina, Walgett and Coonamble have been spoilt for choice these school holidays, with local agencies coming together to deliver a wide range of activities across the community.

The School Holiday Activity Committee, which met in November last year, is made up of 13 local agencies and is led by officers from the Central North Police District.

Meeting twice a week, the committee developed a coordinated calendar of age-appropriate activities for young people across Bourke and the wider district, including Brewarrina, Coonamble and Walgett.

Many of the activities were designed and funded in-house by individual organisations, while others were supported through funding secured by Bourke, Bre, Walgett and Coonamble Shire Councils via a grant from the NSW Government.

The councils distributed this funding to local organisations, enabling them to engage external training providers and deliver higher-level activities throughout the holiday period.

District Commander, Superintendent Gerard Lawson has congratulated all local agencies who worked together to make the 2025–2026 summer holidays such a success across Bourke, Brewarrina, Coonamble and Walgett.”
