Lightning Ridge students tune in to music

Talented young musicians did Lightning Ridge proud on a recent trip to the Hunter Valley, performing on ABC Radio and in schools.

Lightning Ridge Central School’s ensembles performed in Tamworth and Newcastle schools, a trio of students delighted ABC Newcastle staff in the studio.

Arthur Langmead, Year 5, and Ruby Rowland, Year 6, played superb sax and trumpet on ABC Statewide, playing the Lipps Inc track Funkytown.

Talented Year 8 student Jaymee Lohse backed them up on the snare drum, with music teacher Lucas Schembri.

Back home in the Ridge, the whole school listened to the broadcast on the PA system.

Mr Schembri told presenter Paul Turton and listeners his students were returning the favour from the Hunter School of the Performing Arts who had previously visited the Ridge. […]
