It’s a matter of ‘watch this space ‘for the Lightning Ridge Historical Society as they prepare to launch their first-ever website, a project that Secretary-Treasurer Barb Moritz says has been years in the making.

“We’ve never had a proper website,” Ms Moritz explained. “We did have the maintenance man at the Bowling Club put up a few of our photos at one time. But this new website is going to be wonderful.”

The new site has been created by Russell Gawthorpe, who was born in Lightning Ridge and still has close ties to the town.

Mr Gawthorpe who said he believes “that there’s an interesting story in everything,” is known for his series of Curiosity Mine videos which focus on science, history, and trivia. He has been collaborating with a professional researcher to ensure accuracy on the new website. […]
