LGNSW conference a show of local government power

The power and influence of local government was on full display at the recent Local Government NSW annual conference in Penrith. The conference is the supreme policy-making body of LGNSW and an opportunity for councillors to come together to debate issues that shape the way LGNSW is governed and advocates on behalf of the local government sector.

Bourke, Brewarrina and Walgett Shire were represented at the conference which ran from Sunday 23 November to Tuesday 25 November and was attended by 1000 delegates and stakeholders from councils across the state.  Mayor Lachlan Ford, Councillor Patricia Bates Canty, and General Manager Leonie Brown represented Bourke Shire.

The event brought over 1000 delegates, as well as Premier Chris Minns, Local Government Minister Ron Hoenig and Shadow Minister Chris Rath to debate a range of motions. […]
