Let the Games begin: 700 students arriving for Goodooga Indigenous Games

Students from across the north west are preparing for a unique event – the Goodooga Indigenous Games.

More than 700 students from across NSW are travelling to Goodooga. The iconic event will include students from 37 schools, including Bourke High School, Bourke Public School, Brewarrina Central School, Lightning Ridge Central School, Walgett Community College and Walgett Public School.

Those attending will play nine traditional Indigenous games, adapted for use with modern equipment.

Goodooga Central School hosts the Games held this year on Thursday, August 7th. Goodooga’s 35 students will welcome students from many regions, including from the Riverina, Sydney, Western Plains and Bourke.

NSW Public Schools’ Deputy Secretary Deb Summerhayes will attend the Games to fly the flag for public education.
