Kirby remains at Brewarrina helm for five more years

Brewarrina Shire Council has backed General Manager David Kirby for another five years, extending his contract as a major program of infrastructure and community works continues across the shire.
The decision follows Mr Kirby’s annual performance review and comes four years after he was appointed to the role in 2022.
Mayor Tom Stanton said Council’s decision reflected confidence in Mr Kirby’s leadership during what he described as one of the shire’s most active periods of investment and renewal.
“David has helped guide our Shire through one of its most active and ambitious periods of investment and renewal,” Cr Stanton said.
“Under his leadership, Council has secured record levels of funding, advanced the largest public works program in our history and delivered strong financial results.”
Mr Kirby said he was grateful for Council’s confidence and proud of what had been achieved.
“It’s a privilege to serve the Brewarrina community, and I’m grateful for the confidence Council has placed in me,” he said.
“Over the past four years we’ve secured tens of millions of dollars in funding to better our shire, funding that is now turning into real improvements for residents, visitors and local businesses.”
Those works range from major projects including the Main Street Reactivation, Multipurpose Complex and shire-wide Active Transport upgrades to road, pathway, and community facility improvements.
Across the road network, works include the sealing of Jobs Gate Road, widening works on Goodooga Road, the Brenda Road culverts and extensive gravel resheeting across priority rural routes.]…]
