Keeping the League Dream alive in the Outback

While rugby league is facing a tough time establishing a competition across western region New South Wales, the Outback NSW team has opened doors for players from Bourke, Brewarrina, Goodooga, Walgett, Wilcannia, Lightning Ridge, Menindee, Broken Hill and Mildura into a combined side.

The Outback NSW team took on the Regan Cup Bulls in the Outback Challenge in Broken Hill on Saturday, and while they didn’t come home with a win, the competition was of a high standard, and the players got some much-needed match time.

Assistant coach of Outback NSW Jamie Moore from the Bourke Warriors, said the Outback NSW Challenge has in the past been against a Queensland side, but this year there were interest from the South Coast Group 7 region, the Regan Cup Bulls.

The Bulls were a strong representative side and came away the winners with a 24-10 victory over NSW Outback at Memorial Oval, Broken Hill.[…]
