Walgett Shire Council has welcomed two new participants into its paid work experience program, reinforcing its ongoing focus on supporting local talent, nurturing future professionals, and building a workforce that reflects the community it serves.

For Council, the philosophy of “growing their own” continues to shape how long-term careers are supported across the region. Graduate Town Planner Jonathan Mak is one example of that approach in action, having joined earlier this year as an Administration Officer before progressing into his current role.

Mr Mak said he values the opportunity.

“I’m really grateful for the opportunities Walgett Shire Council has given me to progress in local government from an Administration Officer in the Planning and Compliance Department to a Graduate Town Planner with the ability to mentor two planning interns,” Mr Mak said. […]
