Huge turnout to find Bourke’s best smoking and camp oven cooks
The inaugural Bourke Camp Oven and Smoking Cook Off was a resounding success, with more than 300 people turning up at the Port of Bourke Hotel on Saturday as spectators or competitors.
One thing was certain - it was an event that sent the taste buds into overdrive, with some mouth-watering entries tempting the judges and some very happy customers enjoying the spoils.
Ernie Delany from Bourke’s Butchery was the driving force behind the event and said it was such a big success that plans are already underway for next year’s contest.
“It was a fantastic day, better than we imagined,” Ernie said.
“There were so many people helping out, a huge crowd there supporting it and yes, we are definitely going to make this an annual event.
“I really want to give a big shout out to the community for coming out to support this inaugural event and for everyone who helped make it happen.
