Health Minister on listening tour of the Outback

According to NSW Health Minister Ryan Park, solving big health challenges includes visiting the communities where big health challenges are being experienced.

Hence his trip to the far north west of New South Wales last week with Member for Barwon, Roy Butler.

During his visit to  several local health facilities including Lightning Ridge Multipurpose Service, Brewarrina Health Service, Bourke Aboriginal Corporation Health Service and Bourke Multipurpose Service, Minister Park said regional health was something near and dear to his heart.

Speaking on Outback Radio 2WEB, Mr Park said that Health was arguably the most important issue in these communities, and that he wanted to leave a legacy of improvements for people in remote areas.

At Lightning Ridge Minister Park heard from the local staff about staff shortages, a building in need of an upgrade and the lack of mobile services like CT scanners coming to the town.

At Brewarrina Health Service, Mr Park met with several staff members and Brewarrina Shire Mayor, Councillor Vivian Slack-Smith and Bre Shire Council General Manager, David Kirby.
