Harmony central to new Walgett artwork

Renowned Aboriginal artist Frank Wright from Walgett, and the fantastic Lightning Ridge artist, John Murray, have joined forces for an exciting new artwork in Walgett.

The two-week project, completed last Friday, April 28, is part of Walgett Shire Council’s Street Art and Beautification Initiative and is located at Wong’s Takeaway Cafe on Fox Street.

The artwork, which features an Aboriginal storyline representing the river system through Walgett, aims to promote inclusivity and harmony in the community, and John Murray’s emu characters are dressed up to represent diverse groups of people across the district.

Aside from being a local artist, Frank Wright has worked with Moorambilla Voices, which brought music, culture, and art together for the kids participating in the program. […]
