Growing your own tucker

There’s no question Bourke is a community of green thumbs, but the turnout at last week’s community garden workshops showed there was a keen interest in growing food to eat - and food to share.

Two workshops were held at the REDI.E - BACHS Community Garden in Anson street last Tuesday and Thursday, to teach people how to grow and cook fresh fruit and vegetables.

It was an ‘all hands-on deck’ project, with two dietetic students from Sydney University getting stuck in with their shovels, along with two members of the Community Greening Project from the Royal Botanical Gardens. Uncle Gavin Gibbs from REDI.E was also on hand to help out during the two workshops.{…]
