Got an idea for Country? Landcare wants to hear it

Western Landcare NSW is calling on Bourke’s Aboriginal leaders, landholders, and community members to help shape the region’s future.
If you’ve ever had an idea to improve the land or country around us, but don’t know where to start, Western Landcare wants to hear from you.
The organisation is calling on keen participants to help shape future projects.
Bourke-based Landcare Coordinator Kelly Lawson said the organisation had secured funding to reach out to Aboriginal communities, build community leadership and partner in projects on Country.
“We’re looking at the opportunity for our leaders to come forward and for those who are wanting to do projects on Country,” Kelly said.
“Whether that’s for business, or seed nurseries and propagation, we want to hear from them.”
Western Landcare NSW is an independent not-for-profit organisation governed by a volunteer board, allowing it to apply for grants that government agencies cannot access. This enables the organisation to support projects that might otherwise struggle for funding.
Kelly said one of the biggest hurdles for many community groups and emerging leaders isn’t coming up with ideas, it’s navigating the paperwork that comes with grant funding. […]
