Get fit and raise funds for the Flying Doctor
This October you can get fit, raise funds and help families in the bush access critical healthcare, by participating in the annual Oceans to Outback challenge for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
The national fitness challenge invites people from across the country to walk, run or cycle during October to raise funds and help the Flying Doctor continue delivering lifesaving care.
Great for all fitness levels and ages, people have the option of a variety of distances, including the 42km, 79km or 94km challenge, or they can nominate their own.
Last year, approximately 16,000 people across the country logged over 1 million kms and raised more than $3.5 million for Australia’s most reputable charity.
It is the Flying Doctor’s hope that, with everyone’s ongoing support, those figures can be smashed in 2024!
One of the generous supporters taking part in this year’s Oceans to Outback is Betty, who has lived in rural Australia for most of her life and worked in Broken Hill. While working in Broken Hill she visited our Outback Heritage Experience and read the many stories of families whose lives had been saved through the RFDS thanks to the generosity of others.
