The Voice to Parliament referendum on Saturday will be a history-making event, but there is still heated debate and some confusion across communities about the issues.

In Bourke, Brewarrina, Lightning Ridge and Walgett, those same differences are also playing out.

Athlete and health worker, former Bourke resident Bonnie Smith, said she had decided on a Yes vote on The Voice, saying it would at least keep the conversation going regarding the issues challenging Aboriginal people today.

Another former Bourke resident, Frank ‘Riverbank’ Doolan, is speaking on behalf of No voters, saying another level of bureaucracy would not advance the cause of Aboriginal people. […]
