Flight Nurse shares her experience with breast cancer

Growing up my family moved around Australia, so I understood the challenge of living in remote areas and I always wanted to become a nurse and work in remote Australia.

My desire to work with the Royal Flying Doctor began 28 years ago when I lived in Goondiwindi and had to be flown to Toowoomba for a possible ectopic pregnancy. Thankfully my pregnancy was ok and that baby is now a 28-year-old man.

Years later I became a nurse and my passion for the remote areas was reignited. I have been privileged to work in some awesome remote regions and to get a deep insight into the work of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

By 2020 I was living in Darwin with my husband Wayne and working as a student midwife. The Covid pandemic broken out, Wayne had found a job in the Pilbara region of WA, and despite travel restrictions, he was able to get to Broome where I was working.
