Finding Her Place on the Land

At 23, Hannah Amos has already worked across tourism, hospitality and station life.

These days, her time is spent at Lower Lila Station, a 64,000-acre mixed-stock property, where the work can include fencing, mustering and catering for retreat guests.

She is also the new Bourke Young Woman for 2026.

Born and raised in Bourke, Hannah grew up around community involvement and volunteering. Her father Michael Amos is a long-serving volunteer firefighter and captain with the RFS, while her mother Linda has worked at Koinonia Christian Academy for many years.

Hannah got her first pony when she was ten. She says her friends had horses and she “got stuck into that and I haven’t stopped.” She says she loves them.  “I tinker around with them. I don’t compete too much, but I just enjoy having them.” She has two horses – Jake and Bubba, a mare and gelding. “I ride them out bush, or I’ll ride around the levee bank or up Tancred Drive.
