First time National Party candidate Jamie Chaffey has won the seat of Parkes with 63 per cent of the two-party preferred vote, after a 5 percent swing to Labor candidate Nathan Fell.

Mr Chaffey claimed the seat on Monday after defeating Mr Fell who polled 37 percent of the two-party preferred vote.

Speaking on 2WEB on Monday morning Mr Chaffey said that he was grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of the Parkes electorate.

“Over the last 9 months I have met so many incredible people, and I would like to thank everyone who gave me their vote and supported me during the campaign,” he said.

Mr Chaffey also thanked the other candidates for putting their hands to serve the Parkes community and the nation.

“We may have different ideas, but I do believe we are all trying to make our country a better place for future generations,” he said.
