Enormous festival weekend at the Ridge

The Lightning Ridge Easter Festival weekend was ‘absolutely enormous’ according to the President of the Lightning Ridge Tourist Association Andrew Kemeny.
Mr Kemeny said that the festival was one of the biggest weekends that he could remember in the last 10 years or so.
“People came from everywhere, the weather was fantastic, the crowd, the energy, the fun, the excitement and the entertainment were really amazing,” Mr Kemeny said.
“We kicked off with the Bull and Bronc Ride 10-year event on Friday and we had the motocross riders there and the place was absolutely thumping – with lots of thrills – the horses, the bulls and bikes were amazing.
“We probably had anywhere between one and a half thousand people in the main street for our Saturday morning activities.”
The Opal Hunters, who are filming their 14th season, were also along with many other characters.
Mr Kemeny said that he appreciates the Opal Hunters coming down on Saturday morning and signing autographs and making themselves available for selfies and a chat with festival goers. […]
