Emergency power boost for Walgett Shire

When the power goes out during the next flood, storm or other emergency, Walgett Shire communities will have three new mobile generators ready to help keep key community facilities operating.
Walgett Shire Council has secured $25,000 through Suncorp’s Rebuilding Futures program, delivered in partnership with the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR), for its Mobile Generators and Resilience Outreach project.
The funding will see three mobile generators purchased and commissioned for use across Walgett, Lightning Ridge, and Collarenebri, providing a locally available backup power source during disasters and prolonged power outages.
