Police are appealing for public assistance to locate an elderly woman missing from Lightning Ridge.

Angela Kranz, aged 78, left her home at about 8:30am on Saturday (15 March) and was reported missing by her son shortly after.

She was last seen on the Rubbish Tip Road, Lightning Ridge, about 9:15am on the same morning.

When she could not be located or contacted, officers attached to Central North Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into her whereabouts.

Family and police hold serious concerns for her welfare as Angela lives with dementia.

Police with the assistance of volunteers have been conducting an extensive search of the area around Lightning Ridge.

Angela is of Caucasian appearance, about 150cm tall, with a medium build, with tied up grey hair – see photo.  She was last seen wearing a black dress with a white swirl pattern and white crocs.

Angela is believed to still be in the Lightning Ridge area or nearby opal mine fields and anyone who has seen her is encouraged to call Walgett or Bourke Police stations.
