Crime crisis continues in the bush

The NSW Opposition is calling on the Minns Labor Government to do more now to address youth crime across rural NSW as the number of break and enters, car thefts and police pursuits continue to rise.

Media reports have revealed frightening cases in several rural areas this week, including at Moree where the Premier announced a ‘targeted response’ to address crime in March.

NSW Nationals Leader Dugald Saunders said it is concerning very little has been done in the past eight months since the package was unveiled.

“Our rural communities are great places to live and work, but there’s still disruptive crime taking place almost every day, with seemingly no real understanding of the impacts that has from this government,” Mr Saunders said.

“Our residents are scared and can’t go to bed at night without bolting all the doors and windows and making sure their cars are secure, which is absolutely no way to live. […]
