Residents of Brewarrina and Lightning Ridge are the latest locals to be shouted a free ‘Coffee with a Cop’.

The chance to have a “Coffee with a Cop” and discuss local issues was a great success at Bourke earlier this year and the practice has been extended around the district.

Mayor of Brewarrina Shire, Vivian Slack-Smith, recently joined other community members to have a “coffee with a cop” at Muddy Waters Café and was enthusiastic about the purpose of the program.

“There is great value in getting together with the local police in a social setting,” Councillor Slack-Smith said.

“It puts everyone on the same level and makes police accessible to talk about community concerns or any issues that may have popped up.” […]
