Bourke’s up and coming champion rider Elise Smith has had a clean sweep in her first serious weekend of competition on her new horse Jack.

Fourteen-year-old Elise won every event she entered at the Gilgandra Show on Saturday and is now looking forward to another stellar outing at the Bourke Show in just over a week.

Elise and Jack competed in four events and on Saturday afternoon, the team was packing up a swag of blue ribbons.

“He went out really well and we won the Open Hack 15 Hands Not Exceeding 16, Ridden Thoroughbred, Girl Rider and our Turnout Class,” Elise said.

“He was everything I expected him to be, it’s been a really exciting competition and I am very happy with how we went.

“From here we go onto the Bourke Show and then we have a run of shows after that, so I am really looking forward to the season with him,” she said.

Elise started her competition career as a youngster in the Bourke Pony Club and is proving yet again that Bourke turns out some of the region’s most competitive and talented riders.

Congratulations Elise and Jack!
