Classic Pairs last end thriller

The 2023 edition of the Bourke Classic Pairs has gone down as one of the best yet with a change of format allowing for the final to be played on Sunday night under light with a healthy crowd in attendance.

The final consisted of former runner up Nathan Collis and his partner Lindsay Burden from the Macquarie River Rats in Dubbo taking on the young guns from Bourke – Willie Orcher and George Dickson and what a final it was!

Both teams traded blows early with neither team giving ground and a score of 5-5 at the halfway mark.

Willie and George continued to apply the pressure building a lead of 4 shots with only one end remaining, and what a last end it was with Willie and George playing some fantastic bowls to try and put the game away.

Nathan and Lindsay had to come up with something special and they played some perfect bowls with Nathan killing two ends in a row before drawing five shots to come away with the stunning win – 13-12.

“Willie and George led throughout most of the game, but Nathan and Lindsay scored five on the last end to take out the win,” Club Manager Jarryd Samuelsson said. {…]
