Churches have a role to play — Pastor George Mann

Bourke’s Full Gospel Family Fellowship Church hosted the Western Region Conference over the October long weekend to show that churches still have a role to play in the community.

Pastor George from Bourke’s Full Gospel Family Fellowship said the purpose of the annual conference was to gather all the churches in the western region.

“Once a year, the churches, pastors and leaders in our western region, which includes regional areas of western Queensland and New South Wales, come together to encourage and support one another,” Pastor George said.

“People are going through difficult times, and so it’s just an opportunity for us to be together.”

Between 100 and 150 people from nine different churches gathered for the event.

They came from destinations far afield including Tumut, Condobolin, Orange, Sydney, Toowoomba, Rockhampton, Newcastle and even New Caledonia.

Pastor George said that people who consider the church to be antiquated and outdated should look at things differently.

“I think church is great because it brings community and people together,” he said.

“The whole purpose of the church is to support and encourage each other and to encourage our communities.” […]
