Change of date for the 150th Bourke Show
There’s plenty of fun and activities planned at this year’s Bourke Show, but it will be a matter of waiting a few weeks after the usual date, due to a clash with another event.
President of the Bourke Show committee, Grace Ridge, said the decision to change from the originally scheduled date of April 20 was not taken lightly by the committee, but in the end was the right decision.
“There was a scheduling conflict,” Grace said. “There was another show scheduled, and the rides and amusements people were already booked for that”.
“We wanted to make sure that we would have these things at the Bourke Show, even though we didn’t really want to change the date”.
Grace pointed to a show held many years ago, which was run without the rides and amusements, and it just didn’t work as well.
“We want to do the right thing for the community and make sure that we have the best show we can,” she said.
However, the change of date is a one-off, with the usual date, a few weeks after Easter, already locked in for 2025.
“Those dates have already been set,” Grace said. “And it works well for us as after the Easter races, as the ground is really well prepared for the show to take place.”
