Celebrating harmony at Bourke Public School

Bourke Public School was awash with orange last Friday as the students, staff, and school community celebrated Harmony Day.
Harmony Day is celebrated in Australia on March 21 each year to recognise the country’s cultural diversity, promote respect, and show appreciation for differences and similarities.
Harmony Day organiser Lisa Rankmore said the day was a big event for the school.
“Harmony Day is celebrated in a big way at our school – it’s our first major event of the year and we love getting into the spirit of Harmony Day,” Ms Rankmore said.
While the younger children celebrated earlier in the week, Harmony Day celebrations culminated last Friday. Wearing orange is part of the theme, with wigs, shirts, hats, glasses, balloons, and streamers covering the school – even the food was orange!
