Celebrating 10 years of Bourke Easter Festivals

The Bourke Easter Festival marks its 10th anniversary this month, and it promises to be a celebration not to be missed!

Easter is a time when many former residents return to Bourke to reconnect and relive fond memories, and according to Bourke Shire Council Economic Development Officer, Mel Milgate, there will be plenty to do while they are in town.

The weekend kicks off on Good Friday with a 9am Good Friday Service at Bourke’s Holy Innocents Anglican Church and at 10am there’s the popular Bourke Easter Festival Colour Run

Then on Good Friday afternoon, festivalgoers can enjoy a relaxing Billabong Music Session at the Back O’Bourke Café from 4pm. Visitors can also board the historic Jandra Paddleboat for a scenic cruise.

“Easter is looking wonderful in Bourke,” Ms Milgate said. “Everything is happening. We’re thrilled to bring back the street parade and encourage as many people as possible to take part.”

The street parade, a fantastic way to showcase the Bourke community, will return on Easter Saturday morning at 9:30, followed by the ever-popular Wool Bale Rolling at 10:30am, both taking place in the Darling Park Wharf precinct.

Saturday afternoon is for Rugby at Davidson Oval where the Bourke Rams will play the Bourke Old boys for bragging rights in 2025. It’s always an entertaining match in a family atmosphere.

On Sunday there’s an Easter Sunrise Service at the Bourke Wharf from 6am, followed by a pancake breakfast, then the much-anticipated Giant Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 8am in the picturesque gardens of the Back O’Bourke Centre. […]
