Carinda dances through huge anniversary weekend

Carinda was bursting at the seams over the October long weekend as visitors descended on the tiny community for the 10th anniversary of ‘Let’s Dance Carinda’.
Campers filled the designated camping area and spilled beyond the fenced section as David Bowie fans, festival regulars and newcomers arrived to celebrate the town’s extraordinary connection with one of the world’s biggest music stars.
Let’s Dance Carinda committee member Joy Dare said the turnout had delighted organisers.
“We had so many campers, which was wonderful to see,” Ms Dare said.
“There were plenty of people coming through the gate over the weekend and we had visitors from interstate as well as people who had travelled from all over NSW.
“For a little community like Carinda, to see that many people here enjoying themselves and celebrating our connection with David Bowie was pretty special.”
Carinda’s connection with Bowie dates to 1983, when scenes for his iconic Let’s Dance music video were filmed at the Carinda Hotel.
More than four decades later, that connection continues to draw visitors to the community, with the 2026 festival marking both the event’s 10th anniversary and 10 years since Bowie’s death.[…]
