Brewarrina NAIDOC Ball a great success
You don’t need to live in the big city for the chance to go to the ball, and Brewarrina is a perfect example.
Last Saturday night, the Brewarrina Local Aboriginal Land Council hosted the annual Brewarrina NAIDOC Ball held at the Brewarrina community hall.
The Bre NAIDOC Ball has been running since the early 1980’s, apart from a COVID-19 hiatus over the past two years
This is the first year that the Local Land Council has thrown its resources behind the ball and Media Officer for Bre LALC, Urayne Warraweena, said that the ball had taken a year to organise, but much of it has come together in the last few weeks.
“Natalie Boney and Geraldine Weatherall have done a lot of work in preparing the venue and it looks great,” Urayne said. “Some of the planning was already in place because last year’s balled had to be cancelled”.
Brewarrina Shire Mayor, Vivian Slack-Smith, said that the ball was a great thing for the town and the wider community.
