Brewarrina duo qualify in trauma training

The Brewarrina Aboriginal Child and Family Centre (ACFC) is celebrating the achievements of two of its dedicated staff members, who recently graduated with a nationally recognised qualification in trauma support work.

Aboriginal Family Wellbeing Violence Prevention (AFWVP) Workers Isabel Orcher and Alex Wedlock were officially recognised during the Education Centre Against Violence graduation ceremony held in Sydney in mid-May. The pair completed their Certificate IV in Aboriginal Family Wellbeing and Violence Prevention Work after more than 12 months of dedicated study.

“Alex and I started in our roles back in February last year,” Ms Orcher explained. “We’d only just begun when we were sent off to our first week of training in Sydney, and we’ve been studying and working ever since.”

Their studies took them to Parramatta for multiple one-week blocks, while they continued their direct support work in Brewarrina. […]
