Bre Blizzard a big hit — with promise to return

The Bre Blizzard outdoor ice rink was a huge hit during the first week of the school holidays, with hundreds of keen youngsters – and some courageous adults – putting their skates on to enjoy a unique experience.

The Bre Blizzard ice rink is arguably the most remote ice rink in the world, and the man behind the massive operation was full of praise for the talented youngsters of Brewarrina, many of whom have never seen ice before.

Sean Carlow is a former international ice-skating competitor, who now builds ice rinks for ice shows and in communities around Australia – although he said Brewarrina was by far the most isolated rink he’s ever set up.

“We have made a rink in Alice Springs, but it wasn’t an outdoor one,” Sean said. “The Bre Blizzard rink is unique and it’s a great feeling being able to skate outdoors.

“We’ve also built rinks for major ice shows in Brisbane, Perth, Sydney and other major cities, and my most recent one was for the Torvill and Dean ice show which toured Australia.” […]
