Boxing – New Bourke sports star steps into the ring

Bourke can lay claim to a new up and coming sports star – boxer Harrison Simmons.

Harrison has been catching the eye of the boxing world after some blistering matches over the past year and has now been selected to represent NSW in the bantamweight division in the State of Origin bout in Queensland next month.

It has been a rapid rise to the top for Harrison, who trains with Chris Hallford at Fighting Arts in Dubbo.

Mr Hallford said Harrison had unlimited potential, was naturally talented, and had begun to realise his possibilities – and a glittering future in the sport.

“I started training Harrison about 18 months ago and he was a bit troubled and didn’t have a great attitude back then, but in the past 12 months I have seen an amazing change in that boy,” he said.

“He is so naturally talented, and he is beginning to realise what he could do with some hard work – and he’s not afraid of putting that work into his sport. […]
